Why GetCasa

Buying a home you haven't seen, in a country you don't live in, should feel safe. Here's how we make it that way.

This isn't a listings service. Every part of the process is built to protect you from the real risks of buying at a distance.

You'll know exactly what you're buying

Once your offer is accepted, an independent civil engineer inspects the property in person and gives you a full written report before you sign the promissory contract. If something's wrong, you'll know, and you can renegotiate or walk away.

A lawyer who works for you

A regulated solicitor from our panel reviews the title and the contract, acting solely in your interest, not the seller's. Your first call with them is free, before you commit to anything.

You'll know your budget before you fall for a home

If you'd rather not use your own savings, our credit partners assess what you qualify for, including income earned abroad, so every property we show you is genuinely within reach.

No surprises, at any stage

Scouting, negotiation, survey and legal work are staged into clear milestones. You'll always know what's happening next, and what it costs, before it happens.

How it works

A clear path, not a leap of faith

Six stages, each one explained before it happens. Nothing moves forward without you knowing exactly what's next.

01

Discovery call

Meet your advisor. A free initial call with our panel solicitor is available, along with an affordability check from our credit panel.

02

Budget matched

Our credit brokers assess what you can buy with, including foreign-earned income, before the property search even begins.

03

Curated shortlist

We source 3 to 5 vetted homes matched to your approved budget, on and off market.

04

Offer & negotiation

Once you choose a property, we submit an offer and negotiate on your behalf.

05

Independent survey

Once your offer is accepted, a civil engineer inspects the property and delivers a full report, before you sign the promissory contract.

06

Contract to keys

Your panel solicitor manages the promissory contract and completion, and the home is yours.

Financing, done properly

You don't need your savings to buy in Portugal

Many buyers structure their purchase through a Portugal credit facility instead of transferring cash from home. If you have income from a job abroad, freelance work, or a pension, it can often be counted toward what you qualify for. We'll walk through the real numbers with you on your call.

Ask about financing on my call

GetCasa introduces clients to independently regulated, curated credit brokers. GetCasa does not itself provide credit or financial advice. Terms, eligibility and costs are set by the broker and lender and will be explained to you directly before you commit to anything.

  • Curated credit broker panelIntroduced on your discovery call, no obligation
  • Foreign income assessedYour earnings validated toward a Portugal credit facility
  • Budget matched before you searchSo every home on your shortlist is realistic
  • Transparent, milestone-based costsYou know what's owed, and to whom, at each stage
Life in Portugal

The life you are really buying

Beyond the property, this is what our clients move for: safety, healthcare, schools, tax opportunities, and a warmer pace of life, just 6 to 8 hours from home.

Safety and peace of mind

Portugal consistently ranks among the safest countries in Europe. Raising a family or retiring here feels different.

Healthcare that works

A well-regarded public and private healthcare system, often at a fraction of what you'd pay at home.

Schools and community

International schools and a growing, welcoming community of expat families.

Tax planning opportunities

Portugal offers tax considerations relevant to new residents. Your solicitor and our partners can walk you through what may apply to your situation.

Well connected

Direct flights link Lisbon and Porto to major hubs across North America and Europe, so visits from family are never complicated.

Azulejos and a warmer pace

Hand-painted tiles, long lunches, and cities built for walking, not rushing.

Paulo, GetCasa relocation advisor Paulo, your relocation advisor
A real advisor, not a call centre

Meet Paulo, your Portugal relocation advisor

Paulo has spent his career in property sales and property management across both Lisbon and London. In the UK, buying a home almost always means an independent surveyor and a solicitor are part of the process, it is simply how it is done. Having seen how rarely that same standard is offered to international buyers in Portugal, he built GetCasa around it, so every client gets the same protection he would expect for himself.

No pressure, no jargon, and no pushing you toward a property that doesn't fit. Just straight answers about what's realistic for your goals, your timeline and your budget.

Common questions

The questions most people ask before their call

Yes. Many of our clients buy remotely. We arrange video tours and local viewings, and with power of attorney we can represent you through the notary process, so repeated flights are not required.

Once your offer on a property is accepted, we arrange for an independent, certified civil engineer to inspect its structure, systems and condition and deliver a written report, before you sign the promissory contract. It means you never buy unseen or unverified, even from thousands of miles away.

Often, yes. Our curated panel of credit brokers can assess your foreign-earned income and match you toward a Portugal property credit facility. On your call, they'll explain clearly what you may qualify for and whether it suits your situation.

Your solicitor comes from GetCasa's curated legal panel and acts solely in your interest, not the seller's. Your first conversation with them is free, so you can ask about contracts, title, or visa questions before deciding anything.

AMI is the official licence Portuguese law requires for anyone practising real-estate mediation. It's issued and regulated by IMPIC, the government body that oversees the property market, and only granted after proof of good standing, a clean criminal record, and mandatory professional indemnity insurance of at least €150,000. In practice, it means Paulo is legally authorised to represent buyers in Portugal, and answerable to a regulator if he doesn't. Our licence number, AMI 24277, is listed in the footer and can be checked directly on IMPIC's public register.

Costs are staged into clear milestones, explained in full on your discovery call before you commit to anything. Nothing is a surprise.

All part of the service. We guide you through obtaining your NIF, opening a Portuguese bank account, and connect you with immigration specialists for visa and residency questions.

A relaxed conversation of around twenty to thirty minutes with your advisor. We understand your goals, answer your questions directly, and set a realistic plan, including an introduction to our curated solicitor and credit panel where useful. If it's a fit, we continue together. If not, you leave with clarity.
